The Meaning of Kindness Day
On November 13, Kindness Day is celebrated around the world with the aim of promoting the positive power of Kindness towards others and towards oneself. The date of November 13 was chosen because it recalls the opening day of the World Kindness Movement conference held in Tokyo in 1997, which led to the signing of the Kindness Declaration.
Everyone in their own time, in their own space and in their own way, can create Kindness.
The “Building Kindness” project
Since 2020, “Costruiamo Gentilezza”, a national participatory project, through 1700 builders of kindness (teachers, coaches, councilors, pediatricians, entrepreneurs, journalists) promotes concrete actions aimed at building kind practices for the common good, putting children and young people at the center so that kindness becomes a widespread habit. Over 140 administrations have established the department of kindness with the task of providing citizens with tools that can foster practices of inclusiveness, generosity and attention towards others.
Kindness Day initiatives
During this event, many initiatives are planned in different cities with the active participation of institutions, associations, schools and the involvement of citizens. On the occasion of the day dedicated to Kindness, “Costruiamo Gentilezza” with the patronage of the municipality of Grottaferrata (Capital of Kindness 2025), promotes moments of meeting and inclusion in the community, through the Kindness Olympics. In particular, in the week from 10 to 17 November 2024 all the signatories of the “Pact of Kindness” have been invited to organize activities to celebrate it.
Capodarco Training and Activities for Kindness
Capodarco Formazione Impresa Sociale – CFP di Grottaferrata will participate with the game “IN SEARCH OF KIND WORDS” which will take place at the training center of the Center on November 14. The students of our courses will be divided into small groups, marked by a color, who will be given a map. Thanks to the clues scattered along the path (word games and riddles), each group will have to complete all the stages of the game and at the finish line discover the secret phrase. A non-competitive experiential activity that will require teamwork and collaboration, rediscovering kind actions and behaviors in a playful and fun way.
The Kindness Mural and the Flash Mob
Throughout this week, in the area of the Cooperativa Agricoltura Capodarco and in collaboration with the Liceo Artistico paritario S. Giuseppe, we will participate in the creation of a Mural dedicated to Kindness. In the same location on November 13th a flash mob is planned in which schools and associations of the territory will participate.

Kindness Olympics Program – Grottaferrata, November 10-17, 2024
- Sunday, November 10th
- 10:00 am – Inauguration of the Kindness Olympics in Piazza Cavour, Grottaferrata, with the participation of Mayor Mirko Di Bernardo, Deputy Mayor Paola Franzoso, Prime Minister Massimo Garavini, President of Pro Loco Elisabetta Baratti and other representatives of Associations and Institutions. Introducing Costruiamo Gentilezza ambassador Federica Cattani.
- Storytelling in English for children and adults about kindness: “Ce steva 'na vota: the flowers of kindness”.
- Signing of participation agreements for “Costruiamo Gentilezza” by various local associations.
- 6:30 pm – Introduction of the suspended ticket at the Madison Cinema Al Fellini.
- 7:00 pm – Introduction of the heart-shaped “pizza gentile” and the suspended pizza at Pizzeria Playground Grottaferrata.
- From Sunday 10th to Sunday 17th November
- Widespread exhibition of drawings and poems on “Kindness for Peace”, made by students of the IC Giovanni Falcone and children from other parts of the world. The works will be exhibited at the Palazzo Comunale, the Biblioteca Comunale Bruno Martellotta and the Cinema Madison Al Fellini.
- From Monday 11th to Friday 15th November
- Creation of the first Mural of Kindness of Grottaferrata at the Capodarco Social Agriculture, curated by the girls and boys of the San Giuseppe Art High School and in collaboration with Capodarco Formazione.
- Wednesday, November 13 – World Kindness Day
- From 10:00 to 13:00 – “Kindness Games” at IS Virgo Fidelis Grottaferrata: activities such as the mime of kind actions, the ball of kindness, the bingo of kindness and the spider web of friendship, with the construction of a mural with kind butterflies.
- 10:30 am – Gentle thoughts and songs around the city, by Benedetto XV International School and WEMA Onlus.
- 11:30 am – World Kindness Day at Agricoltura Sociale Capodarco.
- Thursday, November 14
- 10:30 am – “Searching for Kind Words” game at Capodarco Formazione, with the participation of students.
- 11:30 am – “Ring Around the Circle of Kindness” at the Giovanni Falcone IC.
- Friday, November 15th
- AVIS Grottaferrata's participation in the Kindness Olympics with a special donation.
- Sunday, November 17th
- 9:30 am – Cleaning of common areas on Viale Primo Maggio, from the intersection with Via Filippo Corridoni towards Corso del Popolo, by the Centro Badia Committee.
- 11:00 am – “Cinema for Everyone” at the Madison Al Fellini Cinema, in collaboration with Pro Loco Grottaferrata and “Costruiamo Gentilezza”.
- 12:00 – Establishment of a Book Crossing point by the Pratone Committee.
